Rick R. Garcia, Director of Zoom Graphics School of Design. Graduate of Bakersfield Junior College with an Associate Arts Degree, studied architectural and graphic design with a minor in photography. He continued his education at Cal State Bakersfield and University of San Jose.
Rick began his career in 1973 as a survey crew member with Kern County Public Works. In the following years he obtained professional work experience in the fields of architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical and Graphic Design. Working with local firms like Tenneco West, Martin-Mclntosh, DeWalt, Land Concepts and Simpson VanCurren, Rick was in the supervisory position of the preparation of construction plans for over thirty years.
In 1988 Rick created Zoom Graphics Design Center providing computer aided drafting services to the San Joaquin valley. In the following years Rick decided a training facility, specializing in the field of Computer Aided Drafting was needed in Bakersfield. Upon receiving approval to operate, Rick decided to add Graphic Design, Web Design, and Medical Insurance Billing and Coding to the list of course approvals.
Rick's experience includes extensive knowledge in land planning and facilitation of permit approvals, through negotiations with representatives of public agencies. Rick's responsibilities include the design and plan preparation of residential and industrial subdivisions, mobile-home parks, commercial and residential structures.
Rick has years of experience working with computer aided drafting systems, specializing in AutoCAD and an array of graphic, animation and digital video editing software not to mention hands on experience with electronic records and billing software as related to heathcare.
Rick's achievements include Businessman of the Year and was recently awarded Small Business of Year by the Small Business Development Center

Rick R. Garcia, Director of the art department since 1994, possess a range of knowledge and skills, specializing in graphic, web, animation and digital video editing software. Rick's list of accomplishment's include the design and preparation of a variety of web and graphic design projects including Zoom Graphics School of Design web site.

Rick R. Garcia, director of the allied health department, was thrilled to introduce a hands-on insurance coding and billing program to Zoom Graphics School of Design list of course approvals. The results led him to train under the direction of mentor, Carol Morgantini, nationally certified coding specialist. His hands-on experience led him to develop and teach a competive electronic health records program. When asked about going back to school, he remarked, “You're never too old to learn and be excited about it!”
Rick is an enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable educator who has humor, real-world experiences, and current learning methods, making learning enjoyable.
